Hell everyone…

It was a great night at Quail Corners Coffee House last Thursday.  Thanks to everyone that came out to compete.  Thank you judges for taking time out to helps us baristas collect some bragging rights.  New on the stage this month was Concords/Chapel Hill’s Lydia Lewallen making a good show for third place, winning Rookie of the month.

TNT Charlotte July 9th, 2009

TNT Charlotte Winners!

Hello…

Wow, that was an intense TNT last night.  We had some newcomers from Smelly Cat Coffee prove their mettle.  Thanks Patti and David for throwing down.  We hope to see you more.  We had our first ever tie for first place, which lead to a Machiatto pour off.  Brent Hall and Michael Feamster went head to head pouring 4 oz of pure joy to gain the title.  In the end, Feamster pulled off a nicely detailed heart taking 1st.  Thanks to Jimmy and the crew at Central Coffee, thanks competitors, thanks judges and thanks to all of you who could coe out and support.

Unfortunately, we were unable to choose an organization to donate proceeds to this month (it has been a busier than normal summer).  But we are always on the look out to give back to you, our community, in thanks for supporting us.  If you have any suggestions, please feel free to leave some comments, or contact us through our Facebook page, Here.  Become a fan, and visit our group page.

May winners, the World Race, and Central Coffee TNT!!

wow…where have I been…well…busy for sure.  Sorry for the late delay.

We were at the Coffee Garden in Matthews last month and it was a blast.  We even had some out of town visiters come and throw down.  We raised about $50 for Kendra and The World Race.  Thanks to everyone that came out and helped.  Every bit counts.

Shannon Hudgens from Coffee and Crema took first place with Michael Feamster taking second and Rusty Angell taking third.  There were some amzing pours.  Go here to check them out.

So on to June TNT.  There are two TNT’s happening this month…woo!  We are busy.  First one will be June 11th at Central Coffee Company in Charlotte.  We are starting later this month.  So get some dinner, have a drink and be there by 8 PM to watch the show start.

Come join us June 16th in Charleston at Muddy Waters Coffee in West Ashley.  The fun starts at 7 PM.

TNT and The World Race

Hey everyone,

Ok…so this has been going through the email pipelines a bit. After some discussion, we have decided to start bringing a great cause to every TNT. We want to give back to both the coffee community and our community that supports us every month.

This month is no exception. We are working to send Kendra Baird on the World Race. She will be doing mission work in 11 countries over a one year period. more info on it can be found here:

So what does this mean. Competitors…50% of the winning pot will be handed off to Kendra; so feel free to throwdown more than the standard $5. For the baristas who have not competed, want to compete, or know someone who can compete…think about the good you will be doing, and having fun at the same time while building a strong community. Spectators…We’ll have a donation jar out and we will gratefully receive any donation you can give.

We’ll be at the coffee garden this month…and this should be a lot fun…So please come out, support a great cause, and throw back a few (lattes or beers) with us.

April’s TNT was held at Coffee Works in the Arboretum.  This was a good time and we even had a rookie of the month.  Katie Miller of Coffee Works stepped up to the plate.  Here are the pours:

Introducing Rookie of the Month!!

Ok…so we do not have one yet, but we will.  Starting in April, Charlotte Coffee Community will be recognizing the new comers to TNT with a special prize.  If a barista is stepping up to the plate for the first time ever at TNT, they will have the opportunity to compete for Rookie of the Month as well.  Rookie of the Month will receive a prize aside from the top 3.  So if you have been itching to get back there and show us what you got, come on out.  There is something for everyone at TNT.

March TNT resuls and more!!!

Hello again,

TNT at Julia’s coffee this month was a great time, and the competition is heating up every month.  We had a smaller than usual showing this month, but that didn’t stop every barista from pouring their heart out…and sometimes pouring a heart…hmmmm.

The competitors this month were Brady Butler, Brent Hall, Jason Dominy, Jimmy Kleto and our reigning champion Michael Feamster.  At the judging table were Gloria Cave of Julia’s Coffee, Elizabeth Geoghan of Blynk Orgaic, and Trinity Wood.  Next month we are looking forward to having TNT at Coffee Works in the Arboretum.  The shop can be found at 8200 PROVIDENCE RD, CHARLOTTE, NC  2827.  The date of the next event is April 9th from 6-8ish.  We look forward to expanding our coffee family, so we’ll see you there.

the pours are getting better every month.  I am excited to see what happens next month.

Also a special mention.  We will finally see Central Coffee Company open in the coming weeks.  Jimmy and his crew of, well I believe it is just him can be found at 719 Louise Ave., Charlotte, NC 28205.  Congratulations Jimmy on your soon to be open shop, we look forward to many espressos.
